The Refrigerator of Life
by Janis Richman, RScP
There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls. ~Howard Thurman
Have you ever gone to the refrigerator, not quite knowing what you wanted to eat, so you stand there and stare at the contents and then close the door and walk away unsatisfied and disappointed that nothing caught you’re eye. I know I have. And then, I go back and look a few minutes later, hoping someone had gone food shopping since the last time I looked – and I live alone! Once again, I walk away discontented.
But when I know exactly what it is I am wanting to eat, and it’s not there – I have a choice: I can go food shopping or choose something else.
Well if you think about it, how different is it when we don’t have a clear vision of what it is we want in life? We look outside of ourselves to see what might motivate us, and wind up feeling uninspired, unsatisfied and wanting more. BUT, if we deeply explore what we would love to be, do and have, and hold that vision in mind, then we can know what steps to take in the direction of our vision.
So before you go to the refrigerator of life, be clear about what will satisfy your hunger!
Affirmation:
I have the power to live the life I would love. I am conscious of the focus of my thinking, and I take action in the direction of my dream.
