“There is a Christ Consciousness that dwells in each and every one of us. It is our awareness of ourselves as spiritual beings–perfect, whole and complete.”
~Rev. Deborah L. Johnson
When I was a little girl, Easter was one of my favorite times of the year because of Easter egg hunts and good food. Later, my spiritual studies helped me to better understand the death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. However, it was only after I went to seminary did I fully understand the history and religious significance of Easter for Christians. The meaning of Easter, I learned, goes well beyond the death and resurrection of Jesus. It represents another opportunity to reflect on life, death and resurrection not only as it relates to the life of Jesus but also in our own lives.
We must die to our old way of living. Any thoughts or beliefs that conflict with our path of purpose and meaning must pass away in order to fully embrace and embody a new life. We must take time to reflect and be honest with ourselves about those things that no longer serve us and release them. Once we release the old, we connect to the Christ Consciousness within us and experience a renewal of life in faith that we are loved, guarded and protected by the Divine.
“I release that which no longer serves me. I open to new life knowing I am loved, guarded and protected by the Divine.”
